Name, company and role:
Adam Batchelor, Founder of NRG4LIFE, Personal Training and Online Fitness & Nutrition Coaching
What does your company do, and how does your role support the company goal?
NRG4LIFE was formed in 2001 with a simple mission statement of ‘providing an unrivalled health and fitness experience to all’.
Through personal training I have worked with a broad spectrum of experienced gym members, home exercisers, postnatal mums, cardiac, stroke and cancer patients, GP and Physio referrals, amateur and professional athletes and many, many more! I have already built up a portfolio within corporate wellness, working with businesses such as Syngenta, The Hoyer Group and KC Communications to help implement health and wellness strategies.
What is your career background?
I started my career at Fitness First, as a fitness Instructor then progressed to Personal Trainer, Health and Fitness Manager, then a regional management role. I’ve worked at multiple sites across Huddersfield including Titanic Spa and helped with the development of smaller independently run gyms such as Wharfside Workout in Slaithwaite. I currently work out of Total Fitness and run my online fitness and nutrition coaching alongside my Personal Training.
What makes your company stand out in your industry/sector?
I have over 19 years’ experience in the Health and Fitness industry, which has given me the opportunity to work with a broad spectrum of clients, from all walks of life, with different goals to achieve. I think experience and knowledge coupled with good interpersonal skills and getting the best out my clients has helped to set me apart from others. I’m always learning and moving with the times and I’ll keep doing what I love for as long as I can!
What is your proudest achievement since being with the company?
Being able to affect so many peoples lives by improving their health and fitness, whether it be weight loss or recovery from injury or illness. I’m also proud of being successfully self-employed for nearly 19 years, within a very saturated market.
What is your top tip for success in business/career?
Make people buy into YOU rather than just the service you provide and you’ll have a much more loyal client base for a much longer period of time.
Why are you passionate about being located in Huddersfield?
I came to University here in 1997 and quickly made a lot of friends, which made me want to stay once I graduated in 2000. I saw an opportunity in the health and fitness industry and saw that the people of Huddersfield were serious about their health and attending health clubs. I love the diversity of the people here and the quick access to the countryside for outdoor pursuits and amazing scenery.
What do you enjoy doing when not at work?
I love a round of golf, days out with my wife and two young boys and have recently even taken to horse riding!
