Name, company and role:

Andrew Taylor Joint managing director. My role is quite varied and hands on, with input into the production, accounts and sales areas of our business.

What does your company do, and how does your role support the company goal?

We provide bespoke curved and flat glass for use in many applications including facades, balustrades, floors and office partitions. My role supports all areas of our business with my knowledge of these products along with the knowledge and relationships we have have developed with our customers over the years we have been in business

Our aim is to become the number 1 choice in the UK, and further afield,  for the type of products that we produce, by producing the best quality goods backed up with the best service

What is your career background?

I started my career as an apprentice glass cutter at a glass merchants, which was subsequently bought by Pilkington Glass. There, I worked my way up the ladder and eventually became Works manager of their largest distribution centre at Salford. This was followed with a short spell at a smaller company where I learned about curved glass and laminated glass. After being there for 3 years I decided to form a new company specialising in these products, along with my brother Jonathan. This was in 2003.

What makes your company stand out in your industry/sector?

Our ability to produce certain glass types along with our flexibility and our can-do attitude

What is your proudest achievement since being with the company?

We recently opened our newly built additional factory, as part of  an investment of £5.5m, where we are proud to say we now employ 80 people

What is your top tip for success in business/career?

Always be prepared to go that extra mile for your customers, but above that ensure the product is always good. The harder you work the luckier you get.

Why are you passionate about being located in Huddersfield?

It’s where we were born and brought up and still live, and are proud to be associated with. It has a long heritage of world class engineering and textile companies, hopefully one day it will be associated with Curved Glass.

What do you enjoy doing when not at work?

Travelling, boating, walking and watching football.
