Name, company and role:
Esther Orridge, Social Progress Ltd, Social Media Account Manager & Trainer
What does your company do, and how does your role support the company goal?
Social Progress Ltd provide social media management of accounts on behalf of clients and also deliver training to help businesses get to grips with social media. I have been managing social media accounts on behalf of businesses since 2015 as well as training clients in either a 121 or group setting.
What is your career background?
I have a Graphic Design Degree from the University of Huddersfield which has enhanced the support I’m able to give to our clients. I went straight into a job at a local art gallery to manage their marketing strategy and promote their art school, then came to Social Progress in 2015. I’m passionate about encouraging clients to celebrate their branding and showcase the personality behind the business.
What makes your company stand out in your industry/sector?
Social Progress Ltd is coming up to its 8th birthday. Janet Bebb (Managing Director) has built the team of 6 people who each bring a variety of skills to the table including photography, drone imagery and video as well as knowledge of the full marketing mix. Our Team work on social media accounts on a daily basis and support clients to achieve their digital marketing targets.
Janet Bebb and I are Facebook Accredited She Means Business Trainers – the only ones in Yorkshire! We have been delivering Facebook and Instagram training on behalf of Facebook at local events throughout the year. Using presentations directly from Facebook, we are helping the social media giant (along with an exclusive group of trainers) to reach their ambitious goal to train 50,000 female entrepreneurs across 2019 via the She Means Business Programme. Not only have we been given access to training materials from Facebook, we also have access to a contact at Facebook – which is really handy for us and our clients!
What is your proudest achievement since being with the company?
The biggest achievement for me was when Janet and I went to Facebook HQ in London for this year’s “Train the Trainer Event” in March. This is where I became a Facebook Accredited She Means Business Trainer and became part of the small group of 30 trainers from across the UK, who are exclusively part of the programme.
What is your top tip for success in business/career?
Treat others how you’d like to be treated, stay humble and keep learning.
Why are you passionate about being located in Huddersfield?
I’m born and bred in Huddersfield, so this is where my heart is. Huddersfield has so much to give and it’s developing all the time!
What do you enjoy doing when not at work?
I love spending time with my family and friends. Relationships are important to me and I’d not be the person I am today without their love and support.
